CGT / CIT 141 Internet Foundations, Technologies, and Development
Research Subject Participation
CGT/CIT 141 has some characteristics that make it particularly attractive to graduate students executing their research. The following procedures are enacted to provide graduate students with access to the CGT 141 students in a manner that does not interfere with the educational components of the class.
- Contact Professor Morales requesting a time to come to class to announce the research study.
- Drop by class during the first 5 minutes of lecture to (a) pitch your research study to students, and (b) provide the students with your contact information.
- Any interested students will then contact you.
- Conduct you research study outside of official class lecture/labs.
FAQ
1. Can I run my survey during lab/lecture?
No. Official class time is only to be be used to teach the learning objectives for this course as defined in the syllabus. The content of your survey is not part of the learning objectives for the course.
As a customer, the students have paid
tution to learn the learning objectives of the course --- not to take a your survey. If they choose to do so, it needs to happen on their terms.
2. Can I come in to recruit more than once?
Absolutely.
3. Can I send the professor a recruitment flyer to show at during lecture?
Yes. If you are not able to announce your project in person, you may send it to Professor Morales (morales@purdue.edu) who will display it during call announcements.
4. Can you give me your class roster so that I can email all of the students?
No. It is important for the student's to "Opt-in" into this type of communication. You are free to come to class and provide the students the students with an email address to contact you. Once you they have elected to share their email address with you, you are free to contact them.
