Dennis R. Short is a Professor of Computer Graphics Technology in the School of Technology at Purdue's main campus in West Lafayette, Indiana. He received his B.A. and M.S. Ed from Purdue. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in advanced animation, interactive game design and development, digital video and digital postproduction including compositing for film and visual effects. He also teaches course related to the history of visual effects in film.
Dennis is a past Director of the Purdue International Center for Entertainment Technology (PICET), a past Director of the International Society for Geometry and Graphics. He was recently elected as a member of the Visual Effects Society (VES) and is involved in committee activity with VES. He's is also a member of the International Game Developer's Society (IGDA) and the Society of Motion Picture and Televison Engineers (SMPTE).
Professor Short has published extensively. He currently has 9 titles in print with over 200 titles total not including over 30 edited books in the last 3 years. Recently he has been involved in forensic video analysis and forensic digital image analysis for the U.S. Marshall Service, U.S. Postal Inspector and the Depart of Justice. He has also served as an expert witness for the Department of Justice regarding digital imaging.
