HOW TO CREATE AN ANIMATED GIF IN PHOTOSHOP
- Open Photoshop (Start -> Programs -> CG Applications -> Adobe Photoshop)
- Select File -> New, and select the size you'd like your gif to be
(in pixels).
- Find the images on your computer that you would like to make into your animated gif and open them.
- Crop or size your images appropriately so that they are all the same
size - this will prevent jumping but you don't
have to do it.
- Make sure that they are all saved as gifs and in RGB - do file "Save
for Web" if needed.
- Copy and paste all resized images into your new document that you created.
- Each image needs to be in a seperate layer.
- Save the file as a .psd for safe keeping.
- Hit the button at the very bottom of the tools pallet to jump to ImageReady.
- ImageReady will open and load your images, layers included.
- Select the Animation pallet.
- Use the menu on the right (with the arrow) to create a new frame for every image you have.
- Select a frame, then turn on the layer you want to be visible, turn off the others.
- Repeat this process for all frames.
- Select the delay between the flip of each frame using the drop downs at the bottom of each frame.
- You can preview your animation before exporting by hitting the play button in the animation pallet.
- When you're done do File -> Save Opiomized As and save the file
where you want it to be located.
- Find your file and open either in a web browser or image preview and see your animated gif.
- Place into your images folder and code like any other image.
